The exhibit entitled New Work by Don Lee, Associate Professor of Art at UAFS, will open Sunday, February 16th at the Center for Art and Education in Van Buren, Ark. The works in this exhibition include drawing and three-dimensional pieces. The drawings were selected from work made in 2013; with more recent 3-D pieces created since late November 2013.
In this selection, Lee has produced work using materials and tools to create what might qualify as drawing, painting and/or sculpture. Lee stated, “By and large, what I use and what I do is conventional, open ended, cognizant of much of what transpires in the ‘art world’ and is an effort to be authentic.”
The works display connections within the body of work but no evidence of a repetitive or linear outcome. “Each work, as it is being made, drives itself,” said Lee, “The intent is to create stand-alone work that might be appreciated on its own terms yet be reinforced by its place in the overall scheme of things. The effort and the results define me and document my particular views as manifest visual form. ”
Don Lee | New Work opens Sunday, February 16th with a reception from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Center for Art and Education at 104 North 13th St. in Van Buren, Ark.
